KÄÄPIÖ is a knitwear brand specializing in sophisticated textures composed of light and shadow, challenging tradition and innovation to create ultimate beauty. Beautiful knitwear collection which you would like to wear in a hundred years of time, is presented with use of finest materials and domestic latest skills.

KÄÄPIÖ developed this technique while at Parsons with an Italian factory. High quality original scarves and cardigans composed of finest mohair and silk are presented for autumn/ winter 2015 collection. Light and shadow made from these two different yarns is the highlight of these items.

This beautiful tailored-jacket is knitted by a skillful dubied machine knitter. Please check the three dimensional silhouette made by an artisan.

Original grey and dark brown colors were made from twisted washable wool and mohair yarns. High quality pull over and scarf, knitted from fine twisted yarns, cover wearers softly. Different plies of yarns create beautiful unique textures.

Finest baby-alpaca yarn is hand-knitted into contemporary silhouettes with traditional Aran motifs.


KÄÄPIÖ Designer : Kaoru Oshima

Kaoru, originally from Tokyo completed her undergraduate degree at Central St. Martins College in London, where she studied knitted textiles and was chosen as a finalist of Texprint 2008 with her graduate collection.
She moved to NY to pursue her Masters in Fashion Design and Society and presented her own graduate collection in New York Fashion Week, sponsored by Loro Piana.
She went onto work at Ralph Lauren Men's Black Label as an associate designer.
After going back to Japan to realize her aesthetic through Japanese craftmanship, she launched KÄÄPIÖ in 2014.
KÄÄPIÖ received a grant from Japan Lifestyle and Fashion Foundation in 2015 and was selected for one of the winning designers of the Tokyo New Designers Fashion Grand Prix Professional Category of 2017.
